Making People Better and Happier

giving your love today

Dear Lover,

When my family was cleaning really old stuff in my house, my grown siblings and I came across some brand new kiddie toys hidden in the basement.

Mom said Dad carefully selected them and bought them when he was working far away in Chicago more than a decade ago. Waiting for the right time to give them to us, he hid them but soon forgot about them. And now after all these years, the toys we would’ve loved don’t really suit us anymore, nor could they even be given to us with the effect they could’ve had.

Which made me think..

As much as we can still appreciate someone’s demonstrations of love in hindsight, love shouldn’t be a surprise, nor should it ever be saved. Even if you may be wrong about it in the future, for now you just have to put everything on the table and believe that it was meant to be–that love will continue to grow and that you will always have more to give.

That’s because..

Love is the only thing that diminishes when it’s conserved.

What “gifts”–compliments, thank-you’s, apologies, clarifications, forgiveness, laughter, kisses, hugs, visits, calls–can you give to a loved one today?

Love Always,
Nathan
